Woven Resilience: The Eight Brocades Path of Silken Strength

Description
Qigong Explorations is every Tuesday. These are 7-week classes where we explore various themes arising from Qigong philosophy through movement, breathwork, and visualization. In this 7-week series, we practice the Eight Brocades, elegant movements that build whole-body vitality while soothing the heart-mind and lifting your spirit. We will move with the slow pace of early winter to refine and weave our movements, breath, timing, and inner ease. This class will help you become more skillful in being centered and steady all throughout the day. Each class begins with a brief Healing Sounds meditation to clear the inner Qi field, releasing contractions, settling emotions, and creating space for vibrant energy to flow. We end with coherent breathing, allowing what you’ve awakened to seep so that the benefits of this beautiful practice are carried into your week. As you practice, you’ll build functional strength in all three dantians, connect to the vast ocean of vital energy that nourishes and protects you. You’ll also train the nervous system toward calm, coherence, and relaxed focus, which is why this inner work matters. When the body is braced, the heart-mind contracts and we default to over-efforting, reactivity, or shutting down. Woven Resilience helps you meet life from Awakened Awareness and clarity. Harnessed to Life Force, you empower yourself to choose your actions from presence rather than blind survival strategies. What you’ll notice as you practice: • More energy with less effort: the body learns efficient alignment, coordinated breath, and smooth circulation. • A clearer mind and steadier mood: when the body is coherent, attention gathers; reactivity softens; and you can think and feel without getting hijacked. • A calmer nervous system: repetitive, rhythmic movement + breath trains your system to downshift out of stress and return to regulation. • Better mobility and posture: gentle opening through shoulders, spine, hips, and legs supports daily comfort and long-term joint health. +Weaving Silk woodblock print by Katsukawa Shunshō. +Kimono woodcut print by Kamisaka Sekka.
